A Level

An A Level in a modern foreign language would be beneficial to a great majority of courses at university and would be particularly helpful if you choose to spend a year abroad. Modern languages can lead to a variety of exciting careers such as translating, interpreting, finance, law, sales and marketing, engineering, tourism, leisure, public sector, United Nations and European Union, media, linguistics and teaching (primary and secondary). Additionally, the knowledge of a foreign language can allow you to pursue any career at an international level.
CONTENT
Your course will help you expand upon your knowledge of Spanish culture and develop your linguistic skills. You will focus on a range of historical and contemporary topics which will further develop your understanding of Spain and Latin American countries.
You will also study Spanish literature and film, which will encourage you to keep up to date with current affairs. You will also have the opportunity to travel to Spain, to improve your linguistic skills and knowledge of Spanish culture.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- English and Maths minimum Grade 5
- Best 8 including English and Maths, minimum of 48 points, average 6
- Must have a minimum of grade 6 GCSE in the subject you wish to study at A Level and a 7 for Science and Maths
ASSESSMENT
You will be assessed on four key skill areas including listening, reading, writing, speaking and grammar manipulation through translation.
