A Level

CONTENT

Studying French at A Level is both stimulating and rewarding, offering you the opportunity to develop advanced communication and critical thinking skills. You will gain confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing in French, while also deepening your understanding of the culture, society and current issues in French-speaking countries.
The course encourages you to think independently and express your ideas clearly, as well as analyse authentic materials such as films, articles and literary texts. You will explore topics including social issues and trends, political and artistic culture, and aspects of French literature and film.
Your A Level French course will further develop your linguistic, analytical and research skills, helping to prepare you for higher education and a wide range of careers. You will also have the opportunity to carry out an independent research project on a topic of your choice related to the French-speaking world.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must have a minimum of Grade 6 in GCSE French (or equivalent language qualification).

ASSESSMENT

You will be assessed through a combination of examinations at the end of the course, including listening, reading, writing and speaking components. The speaking assessment includes a discussion of course topics and your independent research project.
