Content During this course, you will be encouraged to develop a personalised visual language by observing the world through the lens of a camera. You will also learn how to use sketchbooks and digital portfolios to explore your own creative process by experimenting with imagery and manipulating meanings. You will learn a range of both darkroom techniques and digital processes. You will also collaborate with other students to learn how to use cameras, studio lighting, and digital editing software. Your work will be inspired by the study of other artists and photographers through contextual research and visits to galleries. A Level Photography is an exciting course that can lead to careers in photography, fine art, film, media and animation, photojournalism, fashion photography, advertising, and photo graphics. This is an excellent course to study if you wish to go on to become a photographer, architect, journalist, or film director. PHOTOGRAPHY A LEVEL Entry Requirements In addition to the entry requirements on page 13, you will also need GCSEs in an art-based subject at a grade 9-5. If you have not studied an art-based subject at school, but wish to be considered for the course, you will need to demonstrate your ability and interest in art and bring a portfolio to your interview. Assessment You will be assessed through coursework and controlled assignments. You will also be required to produce a portfolio of coursework and separate controlled assignments. A LEVEL Content Mathematics is both a stimulating and challenging subject, which is very highly regarded at an advanced level. Both employers and universities will take a keen interest in you if you have successfully completed A Level Mathematics. Topics you will study include indices, surds, polynomials, coordinate geometry, differentiation, integration, trigonometry, sequences, logarithms, first-order differential equations, vectors, and numerical methods. In mechanics, you will also study forces, equilibrium, kinematics, Newton’s laws of motion and momentum, whilst in statistics, you will study the representation of data, probability, discrete random variables, continuous random variables, hypothesis testing, and correlation and regression. To succeed on this course, you just need a strong enthusiasm for problem-solving. MATHEMATICS A LEVEL Mathematics is a much sought-after qualification for entry to a wide variety of careers and Higher education courses. An A Level in Maths can be the starting point to a range of careers - from engineering to accounting. As a highly regarded subject, it opens doors to many career paths, including accountancy, economics, teaching, engineering, medicine, mathematics, and computing.
