20 CTK AQUINAS HISTORY A LEVEL CONTENT Your course will help you hone your analytical skills and strengthen your essay writing abilities. You will receive excellent preparation for university or the world of work. There is an emphasis on wider academic reading, research methods, writing and effective independent learning. For exam units you will analyse and investigate key historical events such as Germany from 1871 to 1991 and Modern Britain from 1951 to 2007. For coursework you will have a choice from a list of topics pre 1871. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS In addition to the general entry requirements for CTK Aquinas on page 10, you will also need GCSE History (if you’ve taken it), at grade 9-6. ASSESSMENT You will be assessed with exams at the end of each year of your course. In your second year you will also complete a coursework unit. A LEVEL COURSES An A Level in History can be the starting point to a variety of careers – from teaching to archaeology, politics, law and anthropology. ? DID YOU KNOW...
